Just Venting

Disclaimer: This is not the uplifting moment you were looking for, but many Mom's will get a good laugh and be so glad this is not them!

I think I am being punished for having too much fun on my vacation! Kyle started feeling a little under the weather the day we drove home. That is how it all started. He moped around all day Easter Sunday so I insisted he get himself into the doctor on Monday. Needless to say, he couldn't get an appointment! They told him they were booked all week! So two more days go by of me listening to him complain that his eyes and throat hurt. I am not the most compassionate person with sick people, especially with him. I know I 'm terrrible! By Thursday he had infected the whole family. Ryleigh woke up with goopey eyes. I called the doctor and had no problem getting her an appointment! I thought they were booked all week! So at this point I decided Kyle needed to be seen. I called to get him an appointment myself! They sent him off post but he was seen and hame before Ryleigh's appointment that afternoon. His diagnosis did not give me any hope. Pink Eye and tonsilitis! At closer look it appeared Brennan probably had it too! After a doctors visit with all three kids it was confirmed. Three out of the five of us had pink eye, one with tonsilitis, Ryleigh with another ear infection, and both boys sounded like they were coughing up their lungs! I wanted to run away at that point! For the following three days I lined them all up to medicate. I washed everything in sight. I thought it was over. I took a nice nap Saturday afternoon and felt proud of myself, but still a little hesitant because neither Connor or I had gotten pink eye and it is so contagious. Saturday evening Ryleigh refused to nurse. I had no idea what could be wrong now! She screamed all night long, still refusing to eat. Meanwhile I want to scream because I am sure my boob is going to pop any minute! At 3am I thought she had thrush from the medicine. Finally a reason why she is not eating and still screaming! We marched back to the doctors office. I had all three kids with me again. Kyle was feeling better and had gone to church. So was it thrush you ask? No! The doctor said she was just fine. Infact, he said he ear was fine and not to mess with the rest of the medicine. Well that explains nothing I am screaming in my head! I left frustrated to say the least. I just decided Ryleigh must be weening herself. Too bad she hasn't read all the books that tell you to do it slowly to avoid the painful mastitis! Sunday night I realized I was suffering from a bad mood and I needed to change it! Look at the bright side right, no more nursing. But deep down that just doesn't work. I am little put out and sad at the same time that Ryleigh doesn't need me in that way anymore. I wish I could stop time sometimes. Anyway, Monday we will start fresh!

This morning I noticed Connor's eye was all goopey! Pink Eye strikes again! Brennan still refuses to swallow and upon further investigation his throat is really red and swollen. Back to the doctor we go.

Can I go back on vacation? Please!

San Diego Vacation

This was Brennan's first year for a "Spring Break"so we decided it was time for a much needed family vacation. We stayed at the Navy Lodge Coronado North Island. I highly reccommend it. It was right there on the beach with a park for the kids to play at and close enough for Kyle and I to sit on the balcony and enjoy listening to the waves crashing at night. The thing about having a vacation once every three years is you want to do everything. I just didn't want to miss anything. The first day we went to SeaWorld. It was my favorite day. The boys loved feeding the dolphins. The stingrays and starfish were the other highlights. We also had lunch while watching a private show with Shamu. It was fabulous. Tuesday we went to Legoland. It was nice and the boys enjoyed the rides. Unfortunately, it was also spring break for the city of San Diego so things were a little crowded. Wednesday was our beach day. Kyle took us to see his old house and walk the pier. It was very comical when we realized his old house was the one draped in an orange and yellow circus like tent for fumigation! I made him stand next to it for a picture just for fun! The tide pools were a hit later that day. The boys loved looking for crabs, sea anenamy? and sea hair( have your ever heard of such a thing?) Thursday we did the zoo. Of course we started out at the reptiles. Yes snakes, lizards, and spiders are what my boys are into! We took the skytram and the bus tour, but honestly we were all just a little too tired to enjoy the zoo that day. We hit Legoland one more day just because we got a fabulous deal and then the fun had to end. We took one final detour to the beach and enjoyed the sunset and tried to capture the happiness in my kids faces. We made so many memories that I will treasure forever.
I guess I should just put it out there. I enjoyed capturing every moment on film as well. 637 pictures to be exact! I decided to only share the highlights but even then there were just too many. I thought the slide show would be the best. Now for my family who is a little less computer savvy, if you would like to see the pictures a little faster... click the plus sign on the frame a few times. If you would like to see them at your own pace... click on the view all images. This will open up a new screen. if this all seems to much just simply enjoy. We love you and miss you all!

Wipe Out!

Today, they retarred our road. I gave Connor strict instructions not to step in it. But by the time Brennan came home from school it was dry or so I thought. It was a beautiful day and the boys begged to go play outside with their friends. Of course I gave in. 10 minutes into our play Brennan came tearing down the road racing his friend. As he will tell you, he had it in 6th gear(which I guess is the fast speed). He would have won if there hadn't been a two year old little girl standing in the middle of the street! Brennan was headed right for her. I watched as Brennan swirved to miss her and over corrected twice. I thought he just might save himself, but in the end he lost control and skidded face first into that fresh tar. We spent an hour and a half with alcohol swabs trying to get the tar off him. His helmet saved him, if you can believe it. It has a nice dent in the front of it! He has decided he is not going that fast again!

Basketball

We are wrapping up the basketball season. Luckily, the score was not kept at this age group! Brennan has enjoyed himself although I'm not sure you could say he really understands the game. He plays forward. He knows exactly where to go and he stays there at all costs. He holds his arms up and goes for the rebounds, but he complains his arms get tired. Fun is the most important thing in Brennan's world right now. He loves to be silly! My favorite shot of him is his sideways pose. That is Brennan to a tee!
